B.A.U.M. Environment and Sustainability Award 2021

First Climate is climate protection partner of the event

The B.A.U.M. Environment and Sustainability Award will be taking place in Hamburg on 23 September. First Climate will take on the compensation of GHG emissions that arise in connection with the event, since the company is the climate protection partner of B.A.U.M. e.V.

Since 1993, the B.A.U.M. Environment and Sustainability Award (B.A.U.M.-Umwelt- und Nachhaltigkeitspreis 2021) has been presented by the Bundesdeutscher Arbeitskreis für Umweltbewusstes Management e.V., the network for sustainable economic management. The award honors outstanding sustainability commitment and is intended for individuals, such as founders or scientists, who have shown exemplary commitment to sustainability.

Under the patronage of German Chancellor Angela Merkel, the topics of climate transformation, sustainability and environmental protection are once again at the forefront of the award ceremony. This year, the award winners selected by the jury will be honored for their particularly high level of dedication to future-oriented topics such as product-related sustainability management, circular economy in the fashion and textile industry, sustainable mobility, or sustainability in the field of digitalization.

Carbon offsetting with First Climate

Sustainability and environmental protection run like a golden thread through the entire event. For instance, participants are informed in advance about emission-free, environmentally, and thus climate-friendly means of travel. Registrations happen online, avoiding any waste of paper. In addition, promotional items are as reusable as possible, and both catering and decoration make use of seasonal, regional and organically produced or fair-trade goods. As the event organizer, B.A.U.M. attaches great importance to cooperation with regional partners.

As part of the sustainability concept of the ceremony, B.A.U.M. e. V. is working together with First Climate, who is climate protection partner and supporter of the event. First Climate takes care of the calculation of the event’s carbon footprint and compensates for the resulting greenhouse gas emissions on behalf of B.A.U.M. The offsetting of emissions, that arise from the participants’ travel activities and overnight stays, is achieved through the support of a certified forest protection project in Indonesia.

The award ceremony is planned as a hybrid event – partly physical, partly virtual. It will take place from 17:00 to 21:30 and will be transmitted via livestream on www.baumev.de; participation is free of charge.

Here, you will find more information about the event’s key dates, program, and the award winners.
