Thinking Outside the Box

ThinkTime is First Climate’s new internal series of expert lectures

After more than two years of Corona safety measures, social distancing and remote working, First Climate has launched Think Time, an internal series of interesting and thought-provoking afterwork sessions for its employees. It features guest lecturers on various current topics followed by time to reconnect and casually chat with colleagues.

ThinkTime provides an interactive and reflective environment for the company’s global team to come together virtually and in-person. In this launch year, various aspects of blockchain technology and digital assets will be explored. Both topics have the potential to significantly influence how companies will be working in the future, and they may trigger new possibilities for corporate climate engagement.

“Although the Corona pandemic has caused tremendous change in the way we work, learn, interact, communicate, and even live, the last 24+ months have also created unexpected and constructive opportunities to adapt and think creatively,” explains Linda Manieram, who has organized the series. She goes on to say, “ThinkTime is our approach to support the entire staff in remaining connected, engaged, and moving forward – which is no easy task for nearly 100 employees located in Bad Vilbel, Zurich, and other offices globally. We appreciate the positive and encouraging feedback we’ve gotten from everyone; it pushes us to do more and better.”

Give them something to talk about

In March, the ThinkTime series kicked off with an in-person event on blockchain technologies given by Darius Moukhtarzadeh, Research Analyst in Asset Management at Sygnum Bank, in Zurich. There was an engaging discussion about the history of the technology, in which the staff in Germany were also able to participate via live feed. Last week, the second session location rotated to Bad Vilbel, where staff listened to Christoph Lange, a software developer and co-founder of Atem, a startup combining blockchain financial structures with climate action. In continuation of the blockchain theme, employees learned firsthand about Atem’s aim to promote the expansion of effective and accessible climate action.

As part of our ongoing commitment as a “Great Place to Work,” in the coming months, the First Climate team will participate in similar events on blockchain, digital assets and other trending topics in the carbon management market.
