As governments, businesses, and climate finance practitioners gather in Antalya for COP31, the Foundation Development and Climate Alliance, First Climate, and the Voluntary Carbon Markets Integrity Initiative (VCMI) will co-host an interactive on-site breakfast roundtable on the opportunities and challenges shaping the emerging Article 6 market.

The event “Making Article 6 Work for the Private Sector: From Sovereign Demand Signals to Market Reality” will take place on Friday, 13 November 2026, from 08:00 to 09:30 at Casa Sur in Antalya's Old Town. The discussion will be held on the sidelines of the COP31 climate negotiations, taking place in Antalya, Türkiye.

The early morning breakfast format is designed to fit into a busy COP schedule. The discussion will follow an interactive fishbowl format: audience members can take a seat in the discussion circle and contribute directly alongside the invited speakers. Participants can exchange ideas over breakfast before heading into the day’s COP sessions with fresh perspectives on Article 6.

From demand signals to market activity

As the Article 6 market moves from announcements toward implementation, this roundtable will explore what is needed to build meaningful demand and turn emerging sovereign and corporate interest into actual market activity.

The roundtable will bring together company representatives, public sector participants, and market experts to explore three key questions:

  • Is sovereign and corporate demand for Internationally Transferred Mitigation Outcomes (ITMOs) materializing, and according to which timelines?

  • What constitutes a viable corporate use case for Article 6?

  • What is required to unlock a cooperative market between the public and private sector that works for both supply and demand?

The interactive discussion aims to identify practical pathways for scaling high-integrity Article 6 activities and mobilizing climate investment where it is needed most.
