Project Portrait

Biochar is made from biomass using a special pyrolysis process. In this process, carbon is absorbed during plant growth, bound by photosynthesis, and stored for the longterm.

The biochar used in the project is produced from local and sustainably managed forest resources in Gyé-sur-Seine, France, where it is also used for agricultural applications and concrete production. Each time biochar is applied, it is documented according to the guidelines of the EBC C-Sink standard, ensuring long-term climate benefits.
