2025: Our Year in Review

Updated: 2 days ago

The end of the year is steadily drawing near, and before we turn the page to an exciting 2026, let’s take a moment to pause and revisit some of the milestones we’ve achieved together over the past months.

Science-Based Targets für KMU

All in all, 2025 has had its share of challenges – also it continues in the area of climate protection. However, it has been a year of additional and significat innovations and collaborations with meaningful progress. In this blog, First Climate would like to share some examples of past moments which brought the carbon expert joy.

Our 2025 highlights:

15 Years of Partnership with Impact Carbon

Throughout 2025, First Climate has been celebrating an impactful partnership: 15 years of collaboration with Impact Carbon! Since 2010, our transformative initiative has been driving climate action and sustainable development across Uganda, Kenya and Nigeria – from the distribution of improved cookstoves for households to safe water projects with Impact Water in schools. Here’s to the next 15 years of impact!

Growing Cooperation with Carbon Local +

Another standout highlight has been the strengthening of our collaboration with CarbonoLocal+ through the Proyecto CarbonoVivo. The regenerative livestock project in Colombia is awaiting VCS verification and carbon credit issuance in the coming months. The dedicated project founders, Laura and Nataly Cubillos, are turning CarbonoVivo into a very unique project with their visionary ideas and tremendous motivation. We are delighted about the exceptional collaboration in 2025 and look forward to everything that is yet to come!!

Expansion of our Sustainability Consulting Services

Following our Platinum EcoVadis Rating – placing us in the top 1% of rated companies worldwide – we’ve expanded our consulting support for greater sustainability within companies. Our offerings help companies successfully design their climate and ESG reporting, meeting increasing demands for transparency, and contiuously improve performance in sustainability ratings, including EcoVadis.

Focus on Carbon Projects

First Climate is pleased about a monumental milestone in the sustainable construction sector late this year: The pioneering zirkulit climate program for carbon storage in concrete is the first project of its kind in Switzerland to achieve official registration by the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN) under the national CO2 Act.

Success for the Carbonity Project in Canada

2025 has also been an important year for the CARBONITY project in Canada. Just weeks after the official launch of the plant in May, the project also successfully completed the audit for the Puro.earth certification. A big step and a demonstration of the fact that scaling-up technical carbon removal solutions is actually possible already today.

Advances in Nature-Based Solutions

Our partner Soil Carbon Certification Services (SCCS) reached another milestone with the Western Kenya Soil Carbon Project: the project officially issued its first Verra certified carbon credits applying Sustainable Agricultural Land Management (SALM) techniques. And our Niger Delta Mangrove Project is currently undergoing verification with Verra and thereby is in the final phases of project certification.

Article 6.2 Project for E-Mobility in Ghana

Also this year, Wahu Mobility Ltd.’s and Stiftung KliK’s ebike project secured government approval from both Switzerland and Ghana for implementation under Article 6.2 of the Paris Agreement with the help of our team’s expertise. The project focuses on the manufacturing and distribution of electric bicycles in Ghana.

Take-Aways from COP30

COP30 focused on high-quality carbon dioxide removals (CDR) and nature-based solutions (NbS). Both types of projects are increasingly becoming key instruments for credible long-term net-zero strategies. Quality is what counts: high integrity, transparency, and measurability are now fundamental requirements for climate protection projects—and a correspondingly important focus for corporate strategies.

And some late breaking news: First Climate’s and Kosher Climate’s Kranti Clean Cooking Project in India, which is registered under Gold Standard, recently received the first carbon credit issuances. We are excited to have achieved this important milestone. More details to follow!

We would like to congratulate all of our project partners on these successes. And, of course, a big thank you goes out to our customers and the entire First Climate community: your trust, support, and commitment have made all of this possible.

In this spirit, we’re looking forward to continuing to create impact and collaborating with you next year. Stay tuned for more climate action in 2026 and beyond!
