Located in northern China in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, the project utilises a well-suited location to harness solar power. The project includes the installation of approximately 168,000 solar cell modules. The total installed capacity is 40.3 MW and it provides 56,000 MWh of clean electricity to the North West China Power Grid (NWPG) every year, displacing the power generated predominantly in coal-fired plants.

This amount of electricity is enough to sustainably supply approximately 40,000 Chinese households for a year.

Affordable and clean energy: Solar power is emission free, making it a clean and renewable source. This will sustainably contribute to closing the demand-supply gap and will increase the reliability of supply.

Decent work and economic growth: This project generates employment opportunities for professional, skilled and unskilled personnel during the construction, operation and maintenance of the solar plant. Moreover, it creates business opportunities for local stakeholders such as vendors, contractors and suppliers, further supporting the local economy.

Industry, innovation and infrastructure: While the Chinese photovoltaic industry has been dominating export markets for years, application within China has lagged behind. This project helps to develop the domestic solar market by encouraging further investment into solar technology.

Climate action: The project contributes to climate change mitigation by reducing carbon emissions. It reduces emissions by 48,000t CO2 per annum.
