First Climate is proud to announce its status as a Green-e participant beginning in Reporting Year 2017, in which it completed its first audit submission on behalf of Green-e customers for its certified product, “Renewable Power North America”. Green-e is the leading certification program for renewable energy in North America and an important quality label for green energy products for the U.S. and Canadian markets.

“Our aim is to help businesses all over the world to reduce their scope 2-emissions effectively by providing the best possible sourcing options for renewable energy. Therefore, we are very excited to be an official Green-e Participant and able to offer a green energy product approved by Green-e as being compliant with its rigorous consumer protection and environmental standards”, says Ginger Woods, First Climate Key Account Manager for green energy products in North America.

The certified product “Renewable Power North America” by First Climate is based on renewable energy certificates sourced from 100% renewable generation. It is compliant with CDP and GHG Protocol guidelines and can help to reduce a carbon footprint resulting from power consumption at sites all across the U.S. and Canada.

In 2016, more than 53,000 companies relied on Green-e certified renewable energy products. To achieve certification, renewable energy products must, among other things, be based on energy generated from new facilities, be marketed in a transparent way and guaranteed not to be sold more than once or claimed by more than one party.

“Renewable Power North America” by First Climate is a Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) product and does not contain electricity. A REC represents the environmental benefits of 1 megawatt hour (MWh) of renewable energy that can be paired with electricity. For more information, see www.green-e.org/rec.
