First Climate is participating in this year’s Climate Transformation Summit

Just five months before the UN Climate Change Conference in Glasgow 2021, the second virtual Climate Transformation Summit will be taking place from 10th to 11th June 2021. The interactive online conference aims to promote corporate climate transformation and offers a transparent platform for committed companies who want to implement their climate goals using concrete measures.

The event is organized by a young Berlin company, The Climate Choice. The start-up considers the Climate Transformation Summit as part of its mission to engage companies in climate transformation and to support them in committing to climate protection.

How can companies transform their climate goals into concrete action, and what are the current challenges and opportunities to consider? Through interactive panels, one-to-one discussions, workshops and an online trade fair, ideas on opportunities for action will be transparently and practically exchanged by various climate officers, climate solutions providers and companies from different industries. They will also present solutions for measuring, reducing, and offsetting carbon, as well as best practice methods. By bringing together interested companies and experts, the event will act as a virtual meeting point for companies wishing to grow their network.

First Climate will also be participating in the summit, both as a partner and an exhibitor. Mike Hatert, Head of Renewables at First Climate will host a workshop “Betriebsabläufe klimakompatibel machen” (making operational processes climate-compatible), together with Karsten Miede, head of competence in the carbon neutral department of VW Kraftwerk GmbH, and Yvonne Zwick, chairwoman of B.A.U.M. In particular, Mike will be discussing the range of offsetting and insetting products, as well as their measurable impacts on the climate. He will also be answering the following questions:

What measures and market instruments are in place to achieve climate goals? What needs to be considered to ensure measures are effective and credible? Which quality features, such as additionality, are important? When can it be said that these measures have directly led to additional carbon reductions? How can these measures be practically implemented? The concept of climate neutrality will in particular play an important role in responses to these questions. The workshop will be moderated by Antonia Thiele, project manager at B.A.U.M.
