In June 2005, 3C published the Project Phase I report of the Project “Hessische Klima-Partner 2005”. In this pilot initiative for the introduction of climate neutral products and services in companies based in the German State of Hesse, service providing companies T-Com (telecommunication), Neckermann Versand AG (logistics), Frankfurter Rundschau (newspaper) and Heag Mobilo GmbH (public transport) have joined forces to explore the potential of the innovative instrument “climate neutral” for their corporate marketing & communication. The project is funded by the Ministry for the Environment of Hesse (HMULV).
The project participants have defined the following project objectives:
- Development of standards for climate neutral events, products and services
- Analysis of current market dynamics for climate neutral events, products and services
- Development of climate neutral activities as an innovative competitive edge
- Assessment of market potential and customers’ willingness to pay for climate neutrality.
During the first phase of the project (January-June 2005), project leaders 3C and Sustainable Partner have analyzed the key features and potential of climate neutral products and services. During the second project phase (June-November 2005) the potential for climate neutral events, products or services is put to the field test by development and implementation of selected climate neutral activities in the participating companies. By completion time of the project in November 2005, participating companies will have tailored the instrument of climate neutrality to their specific needs and will have developed innovative ways for the future strategic marketing and communication of their products and services.
The Project Phase I report “Mechanism and Market Potential of Climate Neutral Products and Services” represents the first comprehensive introduction to the innovative marketing instrument “Climate Neutrality”. The study
