Trading

First Climate’s trading desk is our gateway to the commercial markets.

We service our clients in terms of order execution as an internationally well recognized participant in the CO2-Market. Consequently, we are always open for new trading opportunities.

We deal in all carbon commodities

European Union Allowances (EUAs)
EUAs are allowances that are issued by EU member states. EUAs are allocated free of charge, auctioned or sold to market participants in the EU ETS. With a trade volume of 3 billion tonnes in 2008, EUAs are the most important carbon commodity worldwide.

Certified Emission Reductions (CERs)
CERs are issued for emission reductions from Clean Development Mechanism projects within the framework of the Kyoto Protocol. CERs can be bought at different project stages:

• Primary CERs: no guaranteed delivery as CERs are not issued yet
• Secondary CERs: with guaranteed delivery

With a trade volume of 1.6 billion tonnes in 2008, CERs trading rank second after EUAs in terms of volume.

Emission Reduction Units (ERUs)
ERUs are Kyoto Protocol units that are generated for emission reductions or emission removals from Joint Implementation projects carried out in industrialized states.

We also trade Verified Emission Reductions (VERs) in the voluntary carbon market and carbon certificates from other emissions trading schemes.
