Management Board

Markus Hüwener (CEO)
Markus oversees First Climate’s trading business, Corporate Risk Management and Corporate Communications. Prior to the founding of First Climate, Markus held the position of Managing Director at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein in Frankfurt, Germany. Markus has been a frequent consultant to the Environment Committee of the German Bundestag. Currently he is member of the working group “Klimaschutz in der Finanzwirtschaft” (“Climate protection in the financial industry”) hosted by the German Ministry for the Environment.

Olaf Bachert (CFO)
Olaf heads First Climate’s Finance and IT departments. Before joining First Climate, he held senior positions in Finance and Strategy with one of the Big 4 Audit and Consulting firms as well as with German and International Blue Chips.

Urs Brodmann
Urs is responsible for the Carbon Investment Management business at First Climate. He also examines methodology applications for the CDM Executive Board and guides multiple programs to promote CDM in India. Until 1999, Urs worked with a leading Swiss consultancy firm, where he advised corporate and public clients in the fields of energy, environment and emissions trading.

Dr. Sascha Lafeld
Sascha is responsible for the coordination of First Climate’s sales activities and business development in Australia. He currently acts as official advisor to the UNEP Financial Initiative and is co-chair of the International Carbon Reduction and Offset Alliance (ICROA). Before founding First Climate, Sascha was Head of Dresdner Bank’s Climate Change Strategy and worked as a consultant for international environmental politics at UNEP.

Alexander Lüchinger
Alexander oversees all Carbon Asset Development activities at First Climate. In 1994, he started to develop the first bilateral GHG abatement project ever validated. Since then, he has continued his activities in this field, expanding his geographical reach around the world covering most GHG abatement technologies and practical project work in around 40 countries.
