India’s huge energy demand means that any contribution from renewable energy sources will reduce the further increase in fossil fuel use and yet smaller projects struggle to secure financing and support. The wind project in Tamil bundles 7 turbines producing electricity for the regional grid.
Compared to other wind projects the one at hand is small. The project bundles 7 wind turbines with a total generation capacity of 2,975 megawatts. Like other renewable energy types wind power needs a high initial investment but thanks to no fuel costs has low operation costs. The bundling of projects enables the access of smaller companies to carbon finance as a way to shoulder this investment.
