Sudhir Bhat, Director Project Finance, First Climate, participated in the panel discussion on "Adaptation and Mitigation in the Developing World – Markets Beyond China and India" held on 26 November at 11:15.
As a global problem, climate change demands global solutions – yet the majority of the technology and financing for these solutions are not accessible to emerging economies and developing nations. Yet the OECD expects 80% of the increase in GHG emissions until 2050 to come from developing countries.
The session focused on the following issues:
While most focus is on India and China when it comes to flexible mechanism projects and policies, how can we ensure that other countries also have the capacity and the technology to develop in a
sustainable and climate friendly manner?
In what way should a future treaty secure adequate and stable funding for adaptation in the developing world?
