Carbon Offsets

Mitigating climate change and its adverse effects can only come from a significant and permanent reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Businesses and individuals are increasingly taking steps to reduce energy intake and increase efficiency. These are important steps to adapt to a low-carbon society.

However reducing GHG emissions is only feasible to a certain extent. There is a technological limit to reducing your carbon footprint. In effect, causing zero emissions still often means zero activity or zero business. Carbon offsetting is a solution for credible climate protection strategies that are looking to neutralize an organization's remaining carbon footprint.

GHG emissions such as carbon dioxide are the driver of anthropogenic climate change. One tonne of carbon has the same impact on the atmosphere regardless of where it is emitted. Likewise, the reduction of GHG emissions contributes to the mitigation of global warming no matter where it is realized.

The global dimension offers opportunities

Our clients and their end-consumers can offset unavoidable GHG emissions by making a reduction of an equivalent amount of emissions possible in another location. Their emissions are neutralized by the additional emission reductions they provide funding for. In addition, this supports technology transfer and brings sustainable development benefits to underdeveloped areas.

Products, services, operations or part of operations as well as entire organizations can choose to cancel out their carbon footprint and take action against climate change today. First Climate supports companies in going climate neutral.
