First Climate prepares all the necessary documentation and supports you in all the steps required for national and international approval to register your project under the Kyoto Protocol.
The Project Idea Note (PIN) is a short description summarizing the CDM essentials of the project for potential buyers, financers, government officials and other stakeholders. First Climate can prepare the Project Idea Note and ensure the relevant government officials are involved from the early stages.
The Project Design Document (PDD) is the main document required to register your project as a CDM activity. First Climate can prepare the Project Design Document according to international best practice.
First Climate will support you in obtaining formal approval for your project from the host country’s Designated National Authority (DNA) and from the investor country’s DNA. The two Letters of Approval are prerequisites for the final validation report.
First Climate coordinates and oversees the validation of the Project Design Document by an independent third party, a so-called Designated Operational Entity (DOE). First Climate can support you in selecting the most appropriate validator (in terms of cost and timely availability).
Once the DOE has finalized the validation report, it will send a request for registration to the CDM Executive Board (EB). First Climate supports the registration process and helps to resolve all remaining issues with the CDM Executive Board to get your project registered.
When the project is operational, the previously estimated emission reductions have to be monitored. To facilitate this process, First Climate can make site visits and provide expert knowledge, as required. The monitoring data must be compiled in an annual monitoring report.
The emission reductions achieved by the project must be verified by a second DOE (i.e. an entity different from the validating one). First Climate supports the timely contracting and activation of the DOE. The DOE verifies the emission reductions on the basis of the monitoring report. As a result of the verification process, the emission reductions are certified.
The verifying / certifying DOE will submit the certification together with a request for issuance to the CDM Executive Board. An issuance fee has to be paid so the EB can issue the Certified Emission Reductions (CERs).
